just a thought.

Once again, living in the shallow summer camp universe has resulted in my being almost totally unaware of anything that's happening in the world beyond a dining hall and a soccer field. But even if I'm wearing my counselor hat, I'm still trying to glean something gender relevant or significant from the whole thing. Like, for example, girl-on-girl animosity! How does it happen, when does it happen, and why the fuck is it so universal? And so much harder to mediate than physical altercations. Maybe we'd all be better off if the girls could stop talking behind each others' backs and just punch one another out.

Updates from nerd camp

Living in a college dorm right outside of Albany, residentially-assisting a brood of 13 early-adolescent girls in an academic summer camp for the exceptionally gifted. Life is okay.

Have nothing to say pertaining to current events because my exposure to them is limited. That said, I thought this was pretty interesting.
