Stood behind Austin Scarlett today in line at the grocery store. He was buying a pumpkin, beer, and San Pellegrino.

Two Different Things.

It is one thing to make obscure cultural references out of your earnest hope/suspicion that the person you are making them to will recognize and share your quirky taste and you will bond or fall in love or start a record company.
It is another thing to make them because you think for some reason that your listener will find you interesting and mysterious rather than just abstruse and so obnoxious, and appreciate whatever you are referring to as some über esoteric piece of indie culture they can only hope to one day understand.

Yo, being a college freshman blows. You are just obligated to suck for an entire year.

Bureaucrats, Vegansexuals, Ejaculate

NYU, for all of the many things I love about it, has taught me the true meaning of an important vocabulary word: bureaucracy. At a big, urban school of twenty-thousand some undergrads (or some equally ridiculous number), where the focus of the institution is pretty blatantly not on undergrads (not that I could give you any evidence beyond the anecdotal, what with the strict and vehemently opposed non-transparent budget policy), so much seems like a lengthy, unnecessary process.

Let's talk for a second about Vegansexuals. I feel like it is only a matter of time before I see stuff like this prominently displayed in my school's dining halls. I'm gonna go ask the nearest vegan if she has a skeet policy. Peace.
